New PII Practice

“Personally Identifiable Information”

I wanted to let you know about an upgrade in my approach to recruiting videos based on new information I have, and think this is a new best practice which will benefit us all.  I will not be including “Personally Identifiable Information” (PII) in videos going forward.  I feel that most of my clients will either be emailing/texting coaches links to their recruiting videos, or will be posting/linking them on recruiting sites - both of which offer a more private/secure method of providing contact information for your player, and contact information for your player’s coaches if you choose.

Recently I completed a video for a returning client - highlights from a national tournament - and had the finished video removed by Youtube for including PII.  I appealed the violation because of the nature and purpose of the video, and it was confirmed to be in violation.  This policy on Youtube is designed to protect against cyber bullying or threatening use of PII against a person - which I fully support.  It’s unfortunate that it spills over into a potentially productive use of contact information for college coaches to connect with a potential recruit.

I think most of my clients will have other ways to communicate contact information to coaches - again either through direct email/text communication, or via recruiting sites.

I will still work to produce a great recruiting video for your player showcasing their skills for coaches - just in a new way for us all!

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
