50Films II: Creating 50 Short Films in 365 days

An exercise in creativity and mental focus

Two years ago, I declared that I would produce 50 short films in 365 days. This was something I had witnessed another artist attempt, and accomplish, and wanted to take on the challenge myself. I was able to produce 35 films in that first attempt, and loved the challenge of working on a deadline with such a large volume of short programs. These programs can range from a simple short project of 30 seconds, to a longer program I might shoot for a non-profit or school.

I have been feeling the urge for another creative exercise on a deadline, and so it is time for 50Films II. Today, December 16, 2011, I am officially and publicly declaring the start of 50Films II.

I hope you will help! I am looking for ideas for videos - stories worth telling.

These programs are all produced at no charge. I have set 3 goals for this endeavor and they are to:

• Explore and develop new techniques, styles and skills in my craft
• Collaborate and create with other artists and people on projects
• Seek out stories of courage, beauty, community and personal meaning

If you have ideas of people or topics who would be interesting subjects for a short film, please contact me.

(My only request is that these projects can be shot in a couple hours, and are fairly easy to edit. My intent is to refine my editing skills with my new Final Cut Pro X edit system, as well as further hone my shooting skills, and I am always happy to help benefit our community. Shoot me an email or phone call with your ideas!)
